Speak Up!

Sept. 2025

(2-3 minute read)

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;
    ensure justice for those being crushed.
Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
    and see that they get justice. Prov. 31:8-9 NLT

In a world filled with injustice, what is the role of Christ-followers to help those who are in need? Is it our responsibility to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves?

Proverbs 31:8-9 is a clear mandate to stand up for the defenseless and demand justice. With a resounding “yes!”, this verse answers the question – should believers speak up when they see injustice being carried out around them?

This is what Jesus did for us.  He not only lived for us as His friends; He died for us as our Savior.  He defended us and still defends us in our sin-stained state.  And He has called us to plead for those who cannot plead for themselves.

The Bible has a lot to say about justice, mercy, service, love, and our role in helping our fellow women. The wisdom of God’s word pushes us to move past our affiliations, comfort zones, and tells us each to be an advocate for those in need.

Your support of Heart of Mercy Mission does just that. It allows you to be a partner with the teams who are ministering in Jesus’ name, helping marginalized women around the world. Heart of Mercy Mission was established in 2019 as the humanitarian arm of Christian Women in Media Association after Suellen Roberts visited developing nations and saw the suffering firsthand. She wanted to put heartfelt compassion into action and give hope to the hopeless...feeding them, loving them, and leading them to Jesus. Only His powerful hope can lift them up above their circumstances, giving inner peace in the midst.
